Case Study: Connecting Healthcare in Communities (CHIC) Initiative
What: Partnering Training
Why:
The CHIC initiative was created as a proactive approach to establishing primary health care partnerships across Queensland. The key focus of the initiative was to minimize duplication, improve integration and service coordination and potentially increase the capacity of the health system, in order to improve the health of Queenslanders.
How:
The CHIC initiative had been in operation for two years (in 2010) and there were a number of Partnership Councils operating across Queensland, comprising representatives from business, government and community organizations involved in the provision of primary health care.
These councils had been formed and were at varying stages of development, however there was a strong need to provide greater levels of capacity building and partnering skills to ensure these councils operated effectively and delivered the intended outcomes.
DIXON Partnering Solutions provided partnering skills training in a partnership with Twyfords to some 15 Partnership Councils throughout Queensland, including Strategic Planning and Partnership Review sessions.
